o hello november: a to-do list for moi
Nov. 2nd, 2017 11:49 pmYeah, I'm going to finish basically nothing for this Gettysburg. It's okay.
Wait, I did trim and put frogs on the wrapper back in September! Woohoo! Note to self: don't forget wrapper also needs a new (very very basic) collar. Do that this weekend before you forget.
Chartreuse dress? Haha. No. I will have it for next Gettysburg and it will be fabulous, but not this time.
I think rational dress may not be happening either - the skirts are done and trousers just need to be hemmed, but I never got past the this-mockup-is-still-annoyingly-subpar stage with the bodice. Which doesn't seem promising. Although! How horrible would it be if I wore the basque bodice from my first (grey subtly striped wool) 1860s dress with the short skirt and trousers (brown with tan and pinkish windowpane check)? xD I mean...yes, pretty horrible, but amusingly-horrible or we-refuse-to-be-seen-with-you horrible? I might have to try it all on together and see...
New bonnet? Um. I need a new one since I very cleverly sold my old one, but...um. At least I did manage to dig out some silk scraps that I don't hate as a potential bonnet combination, instead of buying a yard of lavender taffeta like I wanted to! Luckily I can steal the first bonnet I made for
robinsnest years ago if I really need to.
Fancy dress for Friday night ball? This is #1 priority, and it still seems fairly doable, if I could please stop having meltdowns over school, thanks. Note to self: need to measure and cut the steels for boning so you can give Alice back her garden shears (not really, but they're gigundo) if she comes over on Sunday!
