Masquerade dress plots
Jul. 11th, 2016 04:29 pmWell, I swore I wasn't allowed to buy any more fabric this year...the test determined that was a lie. ;)
When
blackcat452 told us about her black-and-white birthday masquerade, I came up with two distinct ideas, both of which I liked very much. The black option I already have fabric for, though I would still have to buy lining fabric and quite a bit of embellishment supplies, but overall that was probably the more practical plan. ("Practical" being a relative term here...)
The white option was a little more nebulous; I liked the concept but hadn't found any specific image I really wanted to copy, plus I'd have to buy fabric. A LOT of fabric. Well...today I ended up doing research on that costume for a few hours (I need a life, you guys), and I found a photo that spoke to me and said, please please make me! So I did some recalculations, and I think the fabric expense will be slightly less than I originally worked it out to be, so I'm going to do it.
Except for the silk tulle...there's definitively silk tulle in that outfit, and, well, you know me.I can't not use silk tulle if I know it's there!
And yes, I'm being deliberately rather vague! I think I want this dress to be a surprise. (Although if you looked up the photo in my new icon or happen to follow my Pinterest habits, it's pretty obvious, haha. Shh! Don't tell!) There doesn't seem to be much research out there on specifics, at least that's readily available, and you know me, I can't resist a "let's see if I can work out how they might've done this" challenge!
