(no subject)

Hat is getting there - just have to sew the brim and crown together. I finished the brim and picked out all the interfacing from it tonight. Good times. Less horrible than tissue paper, which I've also used for sewing braid in a shape, but sewing over a shape of paper and then having to get it all off is never going to be fun, haha. Also lined the crown in plain ivory cotton; figured there was no point in waiting til after I sew the pieces together and then have more opportunity for nasty scratchy straw to poke at my poor forearms! I'm reminded of how much I dislike craft straw (a lot). Will probably end up springing for the nice hemp braid for the 1830s bonnet, since this poky poky straw is so fresh in my mind!

Anyway, once it's sewn together I just have to trim it - and that will wait til I get my Dharma Trading order tomorrow or the next day, as I want to see which of my green silks matches better with the chiffon I ordered for a scarf to tie the bonnet on. (The green feathers matter less - hopefully they aren't totally off though!)
