I've made another pimp coat. Oops.
It would have been less pimp-y if I'd put the feathers on the inside edge and just let a bit peek out, but the coat was so plain pre-feathers I sewed them to the outside. For the record, 4-5" marabou generally doesn't need to go on the outside of one's coat. I look like I'm prepared for the Arctic; the feathers stand up so tall around the neck they're practically up my nose.
It's pretty hilarious-looking.
Though I do have faith this coat will keep me quite warm...in the now-50-degree-forecast temperatures. *facepalm* (I almost gave it up for a lazy day on the couch when Robin told me the forecast, but managed to gear up enough motivation to get through facings and feathering.)
So I just have to put the lining in tomorrow, which despite work and lunch plans with a friend, shouldn't be a problem. Can always safety-pin part of it in if I have to!
