Apr. 12th, 2010 02:17 pmStill can't figure out how to get the pictures from my lovely new phone off said phone. I'm really very technologically stupid. It's okay. I'll figure it out eventually (or maybe not, and then you won't get to see three days of Shoes or the almost-done bridesmaid dress. And I'm sure you'll all be broken-hearted over that. /sarcasm font).
Anyway, yesterday while I was home, I could have completely finished the bridesmaid dress; the silly little belt would have taken probably twenty minutes to figure out, sew, and put on. Did I make it? Rhetorical question; I'm sure we all know the answer. No. Instead I decided I needed to start messing around with something 18th century. Scaled up (using my tried-and-true method of Eyeballing It) the 1780 stays from Corsets and Crinolines, and cut out a muslin. I learned a couple of things about this particular pattern: it has a very narrow back, and the person who wore these stays had waaaaay bigger boobs than me. Like, multiple inches. (I mean, that's not hard, but still. The 1844 corset that I, um, still haven't finished, fit with a very small amount of altering!) Didn't get past making and trying on the first muslin, but still, I feel all accomplished. (Doing something that should have a pretty low priority on the To-Do list, but that's okay.)
And, today's shoes (yes, still going!): Flats, also from Payless. Seriously, I think 95% of the shoes I own are from one of three places: Payless, Ross, or Village Thrift. And I'm sort of starting to forget what I've worn and haven't worn...this is why I document it!
