Bridesmaid dress
Jan. 8th, 2010 10:04 pmMomentum arrested. Again. Fnarr.
I told myself I was going to do as much as possible on this dress tonight, because I'm hanging out with A tomorrow. And it's never too impressive to see fabric wadded up in a ball and be told, "But I WILL finish it!" So I un-wadded the ball of dress, and messes with the evil little triangle insets. I ended up sewing them in the same way I did the gussets on the 1844 corset (of all things), which is by hand, and you can see the stitches on the right side of the fabric, but I decided that's better than horrible wonky wrinkliness. They're small stitches.
Also sewed together the lining -- because I decided that was better than finishing all the seams (or even worse, trying to puzzle out how to French-seam the thing). Of course, now it does in fact appear that the dupioni does not have much inclination to fray, now that I've cut the lining out and put it together. Typical. But -- miracle of miracles -- I actually found a zipper in the Stash! *falls over in surprise*
I was all set to start making the piping (I'm piping the neck and armhole -- not because it's like that on the original, but because I wanna), but my bin of yarn isn't in my room, it's down the basement (I only have so much room in there!). Hmm, apparently it's not. And no one seems to know where it's gotten to. I have nothing else to use for piping, unless I want to use hemp cording. (And no, I don't; that would look ridiculous, as the cord I have is the thick stuff I use for cording petticoats.) *puts on bitchface* It's a freaking hamper full of yarn, not just a skein or twohow do you people lose something that big? I'll have to look for it again tomorrow; I'm not good at searching for things when I'm annoyed!
