1944 Vogue dress
Aug. 3rd, 2009 10:17 pmIs finished, yay!
It's made of some sheer fabric I found in Jo-ann's clearance section however long ago for like $3 a yard or whatever. It's the kind of fabric I saw and said, "Wow! That fabric's ugly!" then "Hmm, I wonder what I could use it for!" Sometimes I get The Call from fabric that's ugly in an awesome way. I used Vogue 2858 (it's funny, because when I bought the pattern it wasn't out of print, which just shows how freaking long this dress has been in a bag!), which did go together nicely - the only hiccups I had were a bit of stupidness with the neck facing, which I'm sure was my fault, because for some reason I always screw facings up the first time around, and of course the case of Stoopid I caught in cutting the wrong size, also my fault.
I'm wearing a brown slip underneath it (because it's sheer, and um, I would probably not be posting pictures of me in this sans slip all over teh Interwebz) from some other dress - convenient, because then I don't have to make one.

You don't get a picture of the back of the dress because that's the point at which my camera decided to fall on its head, which is apparently not too good for its health (gee, who knew?).
Executive decision: I need to make me some more 1940s dresses! (...despite the fact I don't know how I'm even going to fit any more dresses in my closet...but you can see my closet in the pictures, it's not very big! Excuses, excuses.)
