mandie_rw: me 1950s green dress (drunkcat)
This last couple of weeks have been kinda hectic. I'm fearfully behind in reading everybody's journals, and have not a hope of getting up to date on them, so I'll just hope you all had a merry Christmas and all that good stuff. I haven't had much time to sew, either; I did get everything besides the stays done for my friend (who never gave me the measurements...I'm not putting all that work into something and having it not fit!), and a couple days ago I made some penguin-printed fuzzy pajama pants (she loves penguins), but that's about all the sewing I've done so far.

Christmas was good; I got my dress dummy (yay!), which is a Uniquely You that I have yet to sew the cover to my measurements for because of the No Time Thing; and got a couple other things, including Patterns of Fashion 1 (more yay!).

What else? Well, I went to the ballet a few days ago; the Nutcracker, at the Academy of Music...they had new costumes and sets or the first time in 20 years. I liked, very much. Only thing I was puzzled at, was that in the first act, one of the ladies at the party had a most definitely hooped skirt, though I've read countless articles about how the designer set it in the 1840s. 'Kay... And everybody else's sleeves were a bit puffy for the 40s, but now I'm just being nit-picky.

And I finally got to watch A&E's Pride and Prejudice today...they have a copy at our local video store but it's never there...but it was this time, and I finally got to watch all six hours or however long it is. Can I just say, Want? Kicks the Keira Knightly version's a**, thankyouverymuch. And come on, Matthew Macfadyn or Colin Firth? Not even a contest there!

Anyhow...guess that's about it...I promise some real sewing content soon!
