I am impressed...with myself
Aug. 24th, 2007 03:19 pmAll is not lost, happily. I would have blissfully started making Regency stays last night, except I realized I don't actually have all the fabric I'd need. Plus I want to actually use a pattern. Thanks for your words of encouragement, though. :)
So...back to the kirtle, which I didn't hate as much. Well, first I took the skirt off the doublet. Then I (finally!) cartridge-pleated the kirtle, which I didn't suck at yesterday. Then I futzed with the armscyes of the kirtle, which, for some reason, really ended up helping with the fitting of the doublet. Whatever.
So I put the whole getup back on again, with the kirtle-that-just-needs-to-be-hemmed this time (I actually got the back lacing halfway laced, with many painful contortions), and lo and behold, it wasn't so horrible after all. Lesson learned. :P
I'm still going to mess with the armsyes, but other than that, I think I can pretty much cover any unfortunate wrinkles with trim. Gotta love trim.
