Why yes, I'm at home on New Years' Eve - paying $100 to go to a club in NYC isn't really my thing, and that's what my college friends are doing. I'm sure they're having fun, but I'm really happier at home by myself!

I shouldn't really make these end-of-year reviews, as I'm always a little depressed seeing how little I made...but then, it's all a matter of perspective! And I don't make New Years' resolutions, but I do make lists of costumes I want to make!

1840s dress, bodice based on a sketch in Patterns of Fashion 1. The underwear squeaked in under the wire of "made in 2010" but this one was made in the New Year. Sleeves: need fixin's! As usual.

1780s blue and orange gown, based on this print

1780s striped gown...I have enough striped silk for a petticoat, which I hope to make eventually (if I ever wear this again!), I'm not thrilled with either the fit of the sleeves or the bodice fronts, so those are things that Need To Be Fixed, but I'm still counting this one on the finished list!

Regency undies - well, that is, I made a bodiced petticoat, then made the dress and didn't like how the petticoat looked under it, so took it off! Now it's just a...Regency bra? Whatever.

Spotted sari 1810ish dress and bonnet. My bangs really looked atrocious that day...

1790s stays, with balls (mashup of the two pairs of 1790s stays from Corsets and Crinolines. The balls made me giggle, what can I say?). Never did get round to making the dress to go with them...

Striped seaside early 1870s bustle, that I was going to wear to Belvidere but ended up not being able to make it. This NEEDS to be worn to the seashore at some point, though.

Early 1860s day outfit for Gettysburg. It's not finished to my satisfaction, and the bonnet's not trimmed, and I should have had a ball dress...but I'm just so good at managing my sewing time, that didn't happen! But I'll stick it on this list anyway. (Also, that shawl. Love love it...I even bought my mom one for Christmas! Just for snuggly purposes, not dressing up, like yours truly)

And the 1770 cranberry wool gown - I'm prouder of the back than the front, so that's what you get a photo of!

Let's see how I did with the list I made at the end of last year...

Things I want To Sew in the New Year But Probably Won't (2011 edition)
- 1870ish red and white striped walking dress
- 1911 C&C corset - doesn't have to be done this year, but I want to do something Titanic-related for the hundredth anniversary, so if I have time... - not yet! Apparently didn't have time, haha. Need to get on this, though
- brown wool 1840s, for Poe
- something late 1850s to wear to a ballet or opera at the Academy of Music - ? time period subject to change! But I want to go to the Academy dressed up in something 19thc! - nope! I think the Tissot dress will work for this, though...depends on how the year goes, and what the ballet/opera seasons look like this year
- finish orange and blue 1780s dress
- striped 1780s dress - maybe
- 1795-1800 outfit - got distracted!
- cranberry wool 1770 gown

Not bad, actually. Better than usual. And because I like making lists, here's the one for 2012!
Things I want To Sew in the New Year But Probably Won't (2012 edition)
- "I Want Candy" sack gown for francaise dinner in February, already about half done
- 1912 evening dress, and necessary undies for that
- 1912ish day dress - possibly. If I have a need for a day counterpart for the Titanic dress! Or if I can invent a need.
- 18thc European interpretation of Ottoman Turkish dress
- Under the Redcoat might be on the cards this year, so I'd like a couple new, less, fancy dresses if I do go
- finish the peacock-blue 1860s ballgown
- Tissot dress - but I need a new corset for that, as the busk in my current one is trying to escape after wearing it all day at Gettysburg. Shoddy construction! ;)
- possibly start putting together my Pompadour gown (yeah, the famous "coronation robes" portrait that everybody and their cat makes!) This one is going to be a long-term process, since I want it to be as accurate as I can make it; hand sewn and all that, and I want to make everything new from the skin out
