My extent of sewing today is very impressive - I took apart much of the pink striped sack! I'd been pondering whether to do it for a couple days now, but decided, no, I really could not live with the derp I made when pleating the back. There really just wasn't enough fabric back there at the waist. And the fabric I had left was just long enough for a new back panel, and I can use the old back panel for trim. I'm still in the process of doing the back pleats - after the third try, I got annoyed and decided to put it away for the night!
I did spend some more time costuming - but it was mental costuming, so there's nothing much to show for it! Except many words. Since I don't need the Titanic evening dress til June (I'm now deluding myself that I have plenty of time!), I've decided I do want a 'teens day dress of some sort. And I know the perfect place to wear one: Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA.
I've been going there with my family since I was a kid, and for the past couple years I've been itching to parade around that place dressed in some kind of funny outfit! I think something 1910-20 would be perfect, I mean, look at the place; one portion of it was built around that time anyway.
So - was anybody else in the area planning on making a 'teens day dress, or already have one? I was thinking of a visit in mid-April to early May...partly because I like spring flowers best, and partly because I want to use one of my fabric.com wools! I'd be open to a summer visit, too, though. Heck, I'd be open to multiple visits! I love those gardens. And God knows I have enough fabric that would work for a summer dress as well.
Course, it's just a plot right now...no fun if no one else wants to play along. ;)
