At our little gift exchange last night, I pulled my gift out of the bag, and it was this book. I was very impressed, I must say. Very big and lots of pretty pictures. Also many stripey things in the 18thc section. *glee*

(I did end up getting M. The Duchess on DVD, and she seemed pleased. I also wickedly bought it for myself while I was on Amazon buying my books.)

It's a very good book to start off a costume library with. 'Course, mine's well on its way to domonation an entire bookself... The first costume book I ever bought (well, begged my mother to buy me!) was Costume In Detail: 1730-1930 by Nancy Bradfield...I LOVE that book!

Ooo I should check that one out! I do have Historical Costume in Detail: 17th and 18th Centuries, which is fabulous. My library is taking up an entire bookshelf too. I have no room to put my three newest books, and once I get my research grant I'm going to buy a ton more... I think it's time for a bigger bookshelf.

Oooooooh I have that book! LOL, the people at the library told me to check it out. (They know me too well.) I checked it out and then the next day took it back -- then went home and grabbed it on Amazon! I knew I'd rack up fines trying to keep it and ogle it whenever I wanted.

My only criticism? The 18th century section is too small. :P

Haha, I agree with the criticism...I could have done without some of those late 20thc creations to make room for some more 18thc things! It's such a pretty book, though.
