Costume year in review: 2014
It's a little earlier than I usually do these, but since I don't think I'll finish anything in the next two days, I may as well post this now!
(I'm taking some down time; my schedule yesterday consisted of going in to work at 5am, napping when I got home, and then marathoning Law & Order: SVU for the rest of the night. I hardly ever just plop in front of the tv for hours so I don't feel bad about it! And today I'm not dressing til I have to suit up for work.)
It's a good thing I tag my projects, as otherwise I'd have no idea what I made this year...early 2014 seems like it's years ago!
Think the first thing I finished was the 18-teens stripey wool dress and black spencer, which, looking back, is pretty cute and makes me want to wearit again. With my fancy silk boots this time. :D

I made a Not-For-Me Thing, an outfit from the description of an indentured servant runaway's clothing. For a local historic house; she's not just sitting in my sewing room or anything. That would just be creepy.

A linen gown for Fort Fred, and had bodice-fronts-stretching trauma. Turned out all right in the end though! And finally made a cap I'm happy with, too.

A Downton Abbey-inspired 1913 spring suit, and a truly ridiculous hat. Worn to a Downton Abbey costume exhibit.

A linen summer spencer (with an awful collar that still needs to be replaced) and a new bonnet, to go with my Lizzie Bennett dress.

And then I spent months in the summer, working on Katherine Parr, and then pooping out before the event. She still has a lot of detail work to be done, and still some supplies to buy (it's like pouring money down a rat hole, I swear), but I got up to finishing the kirtle, so I'm putting it in this review!

Made something the complete opposite of K Parr after that: machine sewn and made in something like three days! 1921 evening dress for a DA cocktail party.

An 18-teens mourning evening dress, for the Met event. Didn't do the skirt trim and it's a most uncomfortable outfit, so I still have my doubts about it ever getting that trim!

I liked my painted tiara and veil very much, though. :D

A new 18thc jacket, because SO TIRED of wearing my cranberry wool gown to cold weather events! For Siege Day at Fort Mifflin. Made of same fabric as 18-teens gown from February.

Made a quickie 18thc bedgown, for the purpose of not getting my new pink hair powder all over myself. Only mildly successful in that capacity, but nice to have anyway!

An 1860s plaid taffeta day dress, for Victorian Christmas purposes. It's very swishy!

And, of course, the new stripey anglaise I just posted about, that will be getting more trim shortly.

Matching that up to last year's intended list...
Things I Want to Sew in the New Year But Probably Won't (2014 edition)
- 18thc European interpretation of Ottoman Turkish dress for lounging after the Francaise dinner. Still haven't gotten back to this. I think I'm taking it off the list, maybe that'll get me to do it!
- New 1760s sack gown for the francaise dinner. I did work on it some more...but also, no.
- a Natural Form bustle gown, preferably the cotton one I've already started. Much as I like post-1860s Victorian in theory and on other people, apparently I cannot get excited enough to work on it long enough to finish anything.
-Blue pelisse for my Regency birthday outing Well to be fair, it morphed into a black spencer, but the idea was the same, so I'm counting it!
-Wool dress for the same yep! And I managed to not buy new fabric for it. Go, me.
- UFOs. So many UFOs, such a small attention span. I have a few specific ones in mind though. I did do a couple early in the year, but definitely fell off that wagon!
And for 2015... Things I Want to Sew in the New Year But Probably Won't (2015 edition)
- UFOs. This just stays on the list, for general objects.
- Really really should finish that brocade 1760s sack. I need to know final costs on the francaise dinner before definitely being positive I'm going, though, and those aren't up yet. If I don't go to the dinner I make no promises about finishing this! But it is a UFO...
- Katherine Parr. Have done a lot, still so much left to do!
- Game of Thrones Winterfell dress...possibly. No event for it, but must be done in season to get a shoot of it in outside winter setting! (Where is my SNOW)
- Sooper seekrit 1890s group project...also possibly. Depends what else comes up (and if I manage to snag the third fabric!)
- Revamped Neoclassical gown. Opposite of Winterfell dress, must wait for warm weather to get pics of it!
- Things for Gettysburg 2015, and we'll just leave it at that. Hey, I'll be staying with Famously Fabulous People, and have to dress to impress! :D
- And I forgot about my Costume Roulette project that just kept getting back-burnered this year! I still want to make a c1828 day outfit, bonnet, pelerine and all!

So made so many pretty things this year! Bravo!! But I think my favorite was that 1920's evening gown. Holy crap you look so glamorous in that! Oh, and I meant to tell you how AMAZING your hair looks with that latest 18th c outfit!

And thank you, on both counts! I need to find another thing to wear that 20s evening dress to, it was so easy and comfy to wear! Nice change from most of my stuff, haha.
