And taking a right turn into the Regency...

Had a day off today, so I thought I ought to work on something. And so I did!

I dug out my mockup of the pompom spencer, since I think that's what I'd like to wear for the Pumpkin Tea (and since the original plan was to finish it for the Pumpkin Tea last year, it's a good thing to get out of the UFO bin!). I've been finding spencer mockups all over the place...I seem to have made two others before the most recent one. I don't even know. I'm usually pretty organized with mockups &tc, so no idea how that happened.

Anyway, futzed with that all afternoon because there was one nasty wrinkle that refused to go away. I was getting very angry with it, when I accidentally ripped the side I wasn't fitting, while wrestling it on for the seventeenth time. And that fixed 90% of the problem. Whaddya know. Talk about dumb luck. And I got the collar fitted too, with only a little bit of angst. No sleeves yet, but I'm going to mock those up after I sew the bodice together (as usual).

Got all the pieces cut out and pinned together tonight, and I think I might try and put this together before the Gettysburg stuff, since the Pumpkin Tea is first. Or at least work on it at the same time, when I want some hand sewing - since most Gettysburg things will be machine sewn!

Glad you worked it out! I've been Forrest Gumping my way through my latest project, too. Can't wait to see it all done! The Pumpkin Tea just sounds so charming!

Forrest Gumping...haha, I love that way of putting it; it's all too true! And I love the Pumpkin Tea - so many wonderful pumpkin things! Enough food to sink us, really. Thank goodness for short stays, lol.

Sewing Machines are totally period for the CW. :-)

Which is why mine will be heavily employed. ;-)

I know, isn't it great? (I tend to take my cue from Janet Arnold, and have my machine sewing cutoff at 1861. :D ) No more long tedious skirt seams! Though I'm always amazed at the amount of hand sewing a machine sewn outfit can take...
