Happy Independence Day!

I don't usually post just for holidays (because what am I, Yahoo News?) but one of the blogs I follow, Two Nerdy History Girls, posted this picture, painted by John Lewis Krimmel, and I love it - especially considering my recent Regency expedition.

That's the Philadelphia waterworks in Fairmount Park, exactly two hundred years ago, newly built at the time. Pretty cool!

That said...locals, you know you want to go to the waterworks in Regency dress with me!

We could do a couple of the houses in the park while we're there... maybe a small picnic in the park? It's just been decided that [livejournal.com profile] rose_bertin is going to come visit me the weekend of August 4th/5th, and I want to take her to Fairmount in costume either way...anybody else available? Not that we have a problem wandering around Philly dressed up with just the two of us, but you all should meet Katy...she's cool and makes pretty stuff!

Yay! I was hoping I'd get a few more people, since most of us have at least one Regency dress that needs to get out more... ;)
