Oh, and just because...

My mother finished reading Twilight tonight. (Back story: My thirteen-year-old sister is not much of a reader at all, and my mom bought Twilight for her to read this summer, since apparently all the cool middle school girls in our area are reading it now. Bit behind the times, aren't they? Of course, after hearing my stories about the ridiculousness that is Twilight, she finally decided she wanted to read it, if only to see exactly what my sister would be reading.)

So basically, I've been playing an ongoing game of Horrify the Twilight n00b for the past few days, and it's been awesome. A few of my favorite reactions:

Mom: [before she's even gotten halfway through the book] So...there are how many books in this series?
Me: Three more after this one.
Mom: But...what the hell else could happen?! It's so long but nothing happens!
Me: [mentally] Just wait til the second half of Breaking Dawn...

Mom: Their relationship isn't going to go anywhere! He won't screw her, because he'll break her or something...?
Me: *chokes*

Mom: This woman has a degree in English literature?
Me: Yup.
Mom: Are we sure about that? She could be lying.

Mom: And now I want to see the movie, and I don't even know why.
Me: You see? You see?! It sucks you in!

Hee.

That's great!

Ha! I think someone around here posted link to someone's LJ where they spoof the entire series. I have to find it and link it for you.

The author is Mormon (Mormons came by my house the other day, but that's a story for another time), and if you read the description of Edward and look at a portrait of Joseph Smith, they are one and the same. Talk about Messiah-love!

Hee! I thought so; it's been a while since I had any proper Twilight lulz, and I thought it was high time for some!

Hahaha, I'd heard Meyer's Mormon...but I hadn't realized that Edward pretty much WAS Joseph Smith...that is SO CREEPY. You know, just in case Twilight needed one more thing to make it creepy.

And I think I need to hear the story of the Mormons coming by your house! *giggle* I admit, I think if Mormons rang my door-bell, I'd hide until they went away!

LOLZ!

One of my good friends just made it through to the bitter end of Breaking Down. I warned her...but needless to say she thought it was the worst book ever written.

It really wasn't much. They ran the doorbell, and barely gave me ten seconds to answer the door. They were halfway off the porch by the time I got there. They told me they were LDS, and missionarying, and here's a card. Not at all like those Jehovah's Witnesses. I think they were nervous, as, they were like, 18 or something. I don't know--it was really weird. They didn't really preach.

I actually forgot that you were a fan, but here's that link anyway (http://stoney321.livejournal.com/317176.html). I just read it again (I read it around the time the movie came out) and it's still hilarious. I think this LJ user grew up in the Mormon faith. Fan or no--it's pretty damn funny. I may just have to read one of the books just to see if it's like that.

Aw, darn, I was really hoping for some sort of attempted conversion story! ;)

Oh. My. God. I hadn't read that (thanks for the link!), but it's absolutely hilarious!

And...yeah, the books are pretty much like that, hahaha.
