Pet en l'air pictures

In between the thunderstorms and the hail and my being out until it was dark, I did manage to take pictures with my shiny new camera. (I like to take "finished" pictures of gowns and things on Mabel on the back deck if at all possible, as the light in this house is awful.)

First one includes the fichu, because I like it, and because then the stupid little flap I insisted to myself I wanted on there doesn't look so stupid. (I'm not completely enamored with this stomacher...if you couldn't tell...but the small brainz could not figure anything better to do.)

Frontsies and backsies, sans fichu.

The back pleats, a little closer - the design even matches, and no one is more surprised than I am about that - and side view.

Closeups of the infamous stomacher and the robings.

The also infamous pieced sleeve. And I feel like it is that obvious. And the back lacing.

It's kind of funny that I've finished this, the outfit I don't need, before the one I'm planning on wearing to Bastille Day...but isn't that the way it goes! Before I actually wear it somewhere, I'd like to make a pair of white linen (if I have any left) ruffles for the sleeves, as my shift sleeves are plain. Which means I should probably do that before I put it away, because once I put it away, I'll forget.

I'm in a rather blah frame of mind today, so I'm not all that impressed by this outfit, and am thinking that the 1870s hat I made last week was more impressive. Oh well.

Edit: And I just remembered that I did take a picture of how much fabric I had left over after all was said and done.

Not much!

Thank you!

And that's what I figured; if someone in the 18th century had managed to mess up a sleeve in her garment, like I did, she certainly wouldn't have gotten rid of the whole thing, but would have figured out some way to fix it. Yay for extant garments being pieced, so if anybody ever says anything, I can just smirk and say it's period. ;)

Sack backs of Dooooom. I like that! Quite appropriate, I'm sure...

Oh yes... Sack backs of Doooooom. I guess it's another reason for me to prefer later styles ;-)
