Nov. 18th, 2009 09:03 amI woke up a bit earlier than usual for class, so instead of doing something useful, I decided to post on LJ. Mostly because I've been mulling over What To Costume List For Next Year in boring classes, so hey, why not post about it? And I'll even put it in a poll, because I like polls.
And before anyone asks, why, no, I don't actually need any of these things, I don't think. The year's not looking too exciting in terms of costume events for me. I do have to make myself that bridesmaid dress for A's wedding, but I'll be doing that at some point over winter break.
~ Finish the 1870s petticoat and make the striped walking dress I was planning on in the fall. I've actually got all the fabric for this, which is always a plus! And the underwear, minus the petticoat. Another plus.
~ 1840s. I made a mockup of the 1844 Corsets and Crinolines corset, and got a pattern from that...so I would have to actually find said pattern...plus a corded petticoat and all that. Possibly for Poe someday -- sadly, I don't think this year. *pout* (I swear, by the time I can actually go to this thing, everyone else will be bored with it and stop going!) Also have fabric. More than one, actually.
~ 1860s. Don't have fabric...or a crinoline...or really anything for this era! What can I say,
reine_de_coudre is a bad, bad influence. Stop making awesome 1860s dresses already!
~ 1780s. Have fabric. Multiple fabrics. Have black and white striped cotton for a Duchess-inspired gown, a patterned fabric for a jacket and matching pink fabric for a petticoat.
~ 1760s robe a la francaise. Green and blue changeable silk taffeta. This would be kind of labor-intensive, as I want this dress to be as close to perfect as I can get it -- and copy from a certain portrait. I still need pink taffeta for trim, plus about eighty million yards of lace, but I could get started. I want new stays to wear with this, though.
~ 1790s. Not really sure what yet...I'm kicking around the idea of a round gown and an open robe. May possibly have fabric. Depending on what style I end up going with. Would want a new corset for this too. Not that that's a problem...I am weird and like making corsets.
~ Something new for the Ren Faire next fall. (Yes, I am aware I just made a Tudor gown for said Ren Faire that takes up ridiculous amounts of space. Shh.) It would definitely involve orange, and depending on the crazy, a farthingale. (nooooo! I've avoided those for so long!)
[Poll #1487127]If I come up with any more brilliant ideas, don't worry, I'll make you vote for that too!
