I haz clothes

Mostly for [livejournal.com profile] cutothechase ...

Because we were talking about Dressing Sixties-Ish, and I said, "I do actually dress 60s-inspired (or 40s or 50s, because I love vintage stuff!) a lot...Sometimes it's more obvious than others, but I try to work a little vintage in whenever I'm making an effort not to look like a hobo...I should post some of my outfits when I'm pleased with them." And I was requested to share, so I'm sharing. :D (YAY I LOVE CLOTHES OMG.)

Today was a non-hobo day I think, so here you go, my dear!
I forgot earrings. Dammit.

Shirt: thrift store
Skirt: okay fine I made it
Boots: Um. They're old. I forget. And they're brown. Really.

I know I had a picture of a girl in a green print mini that reminded me of that fabric, that's why I bought it in the first place! Of course I can't find said picture, so have a generic 60s outfit shot for inspiration instead.

And no, I don't know why their heads are chopped off. That's Google for you.

Thank you!! =D I really love the 60s minis. And with thick tights, I wear them well into the cold weather, so you'll definitely be seeing more of them! I knoooow, I hate how miniskirts today are both ridiculously tight/clingy AND short. One of those at a time is okay, both is not. I see SO many girls wandering around with itsy bitsy little tunics on, and I'm like...but, that is a SHIRT. YOU FORGOT YOUR PANTS! *restrains self from beginning rant against the misuse of leggings and tights*

Absolutely just for you! XD (And I'm sure half my f-list is going SHUT UP about the 1960s ALREADY!, and the other half is going, 1960s SQUEE! It's funny.)

Ugh, I know. Today's fashion is... not fashion. : / I love it though! I need to get some skirts to go with my knee-boots. Any suggestions of where to get some 60s-ish ones? XD

Lmao, Battle of the F-List. Let's do this thing >:D *puts on 60s war love paint* XD

I love how I can almost always predict exactly which group of people is going to comment on a post, especially when it's something like this! Mwahaha, the Battle of the F-list commences! I can always aid and abet the 60s side by going OMG LOOK AT THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO I JUST WATCHED, JOHN ENTWISTLE LOVE! <3 That may be cheating, however. ;)

And...I just looked through my closet, at all my 60s-type knee-length or above skirts, and (I am seriously not sure how to feel about this) every single one of them is either from Goodwill, Village Thrift (my pet thrift store), or I've made it. This means I am kind of at a loss to suggest where to go to actually buy those kinds of skirts! It's a shame you've no good thrift stores on Long Island; they're really my mainstay of those skirts! It can be hit or miss, of course, but most of the time I can find something. And if I can't find it, I make it. ;)

Muwahaha, yes gurl. John's evil secksy powers of awesome never fail. It's trufax.

oooh you're so lucky! Having all that thrift around must be heaven! That's so cool that you've made some of them too! 8D I dunno, I'm gonna keep looking around in random places and hopefully I'll come across something 60s and awesome (though they tend to come hand-in-hand ;D)

I adore your icon, first of all. TEA!!!!!

Honestly I think I've found the best (aka the cheapest and/or the most ridiculous) stuff in the shops that aren't in the "best areas". Village Thrift is right next to Camden, and one time, in a store near Trenton, I found an LP of The Kids Are Alright soundtrack but I DIDN'T HAVE CASH SO I COULDN'T GET IT. *woe* Maybe that's part of your problem...I hear Long Island's pretty nice. ;)

60s and awesome usually are hand-in-hand, you're right! :D Good luck in your quest for awesome clothes; I'm sure you'll come up with something! I tend to think to myself...could I see Anita Pallenberg or Pattie Boyd or Grace Slick or, well, Mick J (lol when it's a dress) wearing it in the Good Old Days? When it's a yes, I go for it! Which, to be fair, has led me into wearing some ridiculous things! But I love it. XD
